submitted by Gabriela C. - |Recommended: YesWonderful Staff, Kind — This is hands-down the best apartment for living in the Charles village area, especially for Johns Hopkins students and staff. The Jefferson House apartments are connected to the city and are less than a 5 minute walk to all types of public transportation, the Waverly farmer's market, hospitals and health care facilities. The apartments are spacious and have beautiful original details, but with new appliances and fixtures that make it feel brand new. The few times I have had a maintenance request, management took no more than one day to respond and provide service. Staff member Scott and Danielle respond promptly to my questions and always helps me out when I have questions. The maintenance staff members are exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. Love the programming to keep residents up-to-date with events in the Baltimore neighborhood. Overall, my experience in the Jefferson House has been incredible and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, safe, and quiet community.

A grocery store and several restaurants, coffee shop, taverns, and a cool cafe are all within a short walk. It's so close that it feels like being on the Hopkins campus. There is construction currently going on next door and the building is old but well maintained. Management is great - they are very responsive and they also facilitate community among the residents.

Of course, there is a hospital near by, but thankfully the sounds are not loud enough to wake you up at night. In addition, there is a construction project going right next to the Jefferson house apartments that will last till the fall of 2016, which essentially means that if you have an apartment that's facing the north side, it gets a bit loud from 7am - 5pm M-F. Thankfully, if you have a full time job or if you're a full time student, this shouldn't be that big of an issue because you're not going to be home. MAINTAINANCE UPKEEP OF PROPERTY This is where I think the Jefferson house does a really good job. With exception of the elevator lack of AC on each floor understandable since this is an old building , I feel as though management has gone through great lengths to make sure everything is kept in good shape from renovations in the rooms, to a front door which uses an electronic card to enter, to a remodeled lobby . STAFF PROFESSIONALISM The staff at the Jefferson House are great. Scott is always quick to respond to emails and phone calls and goes to great lengths keep you happy. In addition, the website the Jefferson house uses you can pay your rent and submit maintenance requests is EXCEPTIONALLY good. Theses are small things, but it shows that management truly gives a damn about things are run. To top everything off, I love the free Keurig coffee they offer downstairs during business hours. Truly a class act. Keep up the good work

However, construction next door makes it a bit noisy at times, which is unavoidable but a nuisance at the same time. Although not unbearable, the noise definitely has put a damper on what would be an otherwise enjoyable experience. My current situation was not the norm, but it did take my room longer than most to be renovated and for me to actually move-in. Through all the chaos, however, the staff remained very helpful and professional. I would recommend living here however, be weary of what side of the building your apartment is on, if you don't want to hear construction sounds all day long.
response from property -Dear Resident, As the manager of Jefferson House, I wanted to take the opportunity to first thank you for choosing our community to be the place you call home. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your living experience at our community. Our goal as the management of the community is to provide our current and future residents with excellent customer service and a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained home and community. I am pleased to hear that we have accomplished our goal. While I definitely understand the inconvenience that nearby construction can cause, unfortunately this is not something we can control. Thankfully, this is only a temporary inconvenience and should subside soon. Thank you again for your feedback and your residency. We greatly appreciate it. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly at 410.235.7800. Danielle Baker Property Manager 410-235-7800

Can't ask for a better location with its proximity to the school, restaurants, grocery store, dry cleaning, bank, bus stop, etc. The building itself is also very clean and nice although some of the more recently renovated units are better than others. The staff and maintenance are extremely helpful.

Groceries and restaurants are also extremely close which is nice. Although an older building, it is very well maintained and clean. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. My only complaint would be the lack of in-unit washer and dryers, and the noise from the nearby construction. I feel that everyone in the area is bothered by the construction though.

submitted by Leah J. - |Recommended: YesThe Management And Repair Men Have Been Very Kind And Gracious. — Although the facilities are old and the elevator can be a little scary, the low rent and great location make up for this. Jefferson House has the most convenient location around; it is just across from Hopkins and many food stores. The management is very helpful and kind, and any repairs are completed quickly and skillfully. I would recommend the apartment to anyone living on a budget.

submitted by Mary J. - |Recommended: YesPleasant Experience, Convenient And Safe Location, Good Floor Plans — I have lived in Jefferson House apartments for almost a year now, and have had nothing but positive experiences. The location can't be beat, the office staff is pleasant and courteous, and the maintenance crew does a great job with upkeep and repairing items promptly. Pest control services are provided routinely The neighbors are courteous and friendly also. Pros: The neighborhood is very conveniently located and safe. The apartment building is within the security perimeter of the Hopkins main campus. My large efficiency apartment has a good layout for a studio. The large efficiency apartment has a sizeable bathroom, a large walk-in closet, a dressing room and a separate kitchen with a full-size refrigerator. The hardwood floors are beautiful. The rent is reasonable for the area. It would be difficult to find a place where one can live alone on a lower rent. The heat works well in the winter. The building takes cats for an additional fee and pet deposit. Maintenance is very responsive and does repairs promptly. Cons: This is an old building, the bathroom fixtures and kitchen stove/sink are older (but fully functional). There are minimal amenities (but most residents are Hopkins students or post-docs and quite busy!). There is no recycling. The parking situation is difficult (it's the city!!), but it should be improved now that the Charles Street access road has been repaired and reopened with additional parking spots. And the parking situation is better than many other parts of the city! Read more: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/MD-Baltimore-Jefferson-House-1653872.html#ixzz2SlQYMiwR
